What product for pool maintenance?

A swimming pool requires regular maintenance to ensure healthy water. Beyond the must-have broom and net for removing leaves and mosquitoes from the surface of the water as well as limestone deposits, some pool cleaning products must be constantly available at home to disinfect, clean and correct water. They differ depending on your type of pool, classic or natural.

Classic pool care products

The pump sucks water to the filter, which needs to be cleaned regularly, but daily treatment to balance it is essential.

1) Disinfectant products

  • Chlorine in the form of pellets, granules or liquid is the cheapest product. It is better to put it in the water in the evening to reduce its evaporation, so you will put less. However, this type of bactericidal product is irritating to the eyes, lungs and skin. Sports swimmers are frequently affected by asthma.
  • Bromine, more expensive, is less toxic and odorless.

2) Correctors

Correctors are intended to check the pH of the water. It shall be between 7.2 and 7.4. It is measured using test strips or a water tester. If the pH is not good, a balancing product must be added. The advantage of the water tester is that it measures not only the limescale content but also stabilizers and disinfectants.

3) Anti-algae products

Anti-algae products prevent the formation of plants that alter water color. They are used for prevention or shock treatment if the water turns green in high heat. Get active oxygen, it is both anti-algae and disinfectant.

4) Cleaning products

To facilitate the work of the robot, a flocculant will amalgamate the impurities and bring them to the bottom of the water.

A stain resistant eraser is also useful for clearing the water line and cleaning skimmers. Mold will not appear in it.

Natural pool care products

Natural pools contain salt water, so they are more environmentally friendly and environmentally friendly. Different disinfection systems exist but they still require water monitoring and treatment despite everything.

1) The electrolysis system

Water passes into a device where salt is disintegrated by electrolysis. It then turns into a natural clore. Once released into the water, it converts to salt again. The disinfection cycle is therefore looped.

As natural chlorine does not evaporate, unlike chemical chlorine, pH needs to be checked only once a week. Test strips or a water tester are used to measure the water balance.

However, the salt level may decrease if water is added or significant splashing during swimming. A light will alert you in this case.

Despite salt, an algaecide remains mandatory.

2) The generator Ozone

The ozone generator transforms oxygen into highly effective ozone, bactericidal and algaecide. The device costs expensive, between 1500 and 2500 dollars, but it lasts about ten years. Electrodes, on the other hand, need to be replaced every 4 years (approximately $160). Your investment will be amortized in five years. You will save in chlorine but you will have to plan to put a little (70% less than in a classic pool).

3) The ionizer

The ionizer is a system that releases copper and silver ions into the pool water. They destroy bacteria, viruses and algae.

A disinfectant product is nevertheless necessary to maintain a perfect water quality, but in less quantity than in conventional pools (50% less).

Pool cleaning products are therefore a must. Do not buy them in too much in order to avoid environmental pollution inadvertently.
