This is noticeable when the engine operation becomes noisy. A tensioner belongs to the timing chain, which pushes against the chain with a synthetic gutter, to maintain tension. The tensioner is also a wear part, which needs to be changed regularly.

Moving parts of the motor have a hard surface. If damaged, the pressure will act on soft materials. The damage will be more and more substantial. Motors overheats especially in winter. This happens when there is no antifreeze protection in the coolant. Frozen water in the engine compartment can also directly damage the engine. Water stretches when frozen. This creates high strength, and can burst the housing, ducts or containers. The motor block can be scratched. In this case, the engine usually cannot be saved. When gasoline or diesel are confused when refueling, the engine can also damage. The oil pump is usually also concerned, and many other components can be damaged by bad fuel. If you have refuel a bad fuel, do not turn on the engine! Fuel must be removed. This of course has a cost, but remains cheaper than a repair.
