Some When Calls the Heart fans may never encounter Jack Thornton’s death. Millions of loyal spectators were inconsolable when the faithful mountains (played by Daniel Lissing) died on a landslide at the end of the fifth season of the show.
Jack’s romance with Elizabeth Thatcher (later Thornton) was at the heart of the historical drama, so fans were rightly worried when they learned that he would leave the show for good. But his widow — and the series — managed to pick up the pieces after his premature death. Elizabeth gave birth to her baby in the 2018 Christmas special, The Greatest Christmas Blessing, and at the end of season 6 she took some preliminary steps towards a new romance.

“ It was the honour of my career to play Jack,” he said in the live chat on Facebook. “It was the honor of my career to work with these two amazing women, whom I consider some of my best friends in the world.
